Thank you for your time and visit. Have you ever met someone that you would give the clothes off your back to? Or meet someone that seems like they are really God's perfect creation for humanity? I mean a person with nothing bad thing to say about anyone, that is so caring and considerate of others it makes you stop and think? Or a person with basically nothing, gives what she can, sacrificing herself to help and feed others? I did. And I'm hurting.
On February 2, 2001, this wonderful child of God; a 37 year old bright, funny, homeless and very sick (lupus & losing eye site) native American Indian lady and her companion was awarded $65,000 from in a 1999 law suit. The law suit stemmed from a well known hotel chain in Oakland, California having her arrested in her (CASH PAID ROOM) due to "the hotels computer having her mistakenly checked out from her previous night stay." We later found the room (actually the entire floor) was reserved for a Canadian basketball star. It was 12:30 am when the star tried to enter the room and security was called as well as management; but to no resolve they wanted her out to give the room to the star. Now you really know why the hotel wanted her out; basketball dollar's verses an unknown.
Her dreams were not to be realized. A home, flower stand and money to help others. That dream came to a dreadful end that Saturday with her money being stolen by a Norman Jefferson a BART EMPLOYEE in Oakland. Being homeless and having no bank account she cashed her check in cash and left the bank. Here you would say why not cashiers check right? Remember we're talking about homeless and not knowing what they go through daily. However, I do. No matter, the next order of business for her was to open an account on Saturday in San Francisco or Oakland. Mr. Jefferson was more than happy to drive her anywhere giving he was the one to be there when the attorney handed over the check as well as when she cashed it. Well Mr. Jefferson decided he needed a detour and wanted to stop for refreshment (milkshake) and from there he took possession of all the cash in a deceptive manner. He stole the money.
Yes, Oakland police was called and even stated the bag was in the car but someone had taken it. He never left from the car. The police stated that it is one persons word against another therefore no arrest could be made. Also noted is that they were no more than four feet from the car at a walk up order establishment and he was seen getting out of the car with the bag.
So here I am. I'm a computer buff with a hell of a heart as well as flaw, but not to the extent of not seeing injustice or caring for others. For what I see with this situation, this woman issue is on my mind every moment as to the loss she suffered and still suffering. Loss of her dreams. We all have dreams and she momentarily had hers within her grasp. So I'm taking this time at 2:42AM in the morning, May the 4th, 2001 to generate this web site and look to others who will sympathize with me and help. I want her to see her dreams come true before and (if) she loses her site. I can see. And I can see us giving to someone like her who gives more than she has ever received to an uncaring selfish society. We can replace her funds and allow her to do work for us by supporting and helping the people in need, as she knows them.
I beg of you to look within yourself and give/donate as you can. I promise you and with the grace of whatever higher power in your life to help others with what is beyond her loss; should you help to replace. This would be a nightmare for anyone. I feel for her well being, but identify with her loss dream(s). She was looking up at the sky while tears rolled down her cheeks momentarily, then looks over and smile at me. I ask how can you smile right now? She said, the sun is shinning and I can see and walk and talk with you today again. These are moments to treasure not to be bothered with what already done yesterday. I could not hold back and cried openly beside this person that made me see how insignificant money is and how friendships and people showed be. I cry as I put this together just thinking how wonderful she is.
You came to this site for a reason. Please do not leave without looking at the good you can do to help. Please find it in your hearts to hear my words and understand. I'm asking for her life and dreams to be realized, one she has never realized being knowingly ill, and yet so damn unselfish and giving. I failed to mention she is on SSI and gives what she can to the homeless, kids and older people in need. A heart of gold and I've been lucky enough to meet this lady.
Hear me??you are my last resort. I know there are loving caring people out there and you will respond to this accordingly with compassion.
So, I have done this site. Legally, I should have not stated the Accused name. But I STAND for something these days and will deal with that as it comes. I'm rich/wealthy in compassion and caring if I had the mightly green I would replace it all. This is the first time I've taken a hard stand in my life against injustice. If you would like to help call this number for details and/or I can tell you more for you NOT feel taken. Please leave a message and your phone number or send check or money order to: Ms. E. Begay, 559 16th St., Oakland, Ca. 94612 or call 510-239-2239 Ext. 3692
On a final note: Oakland PD is investigating and at the time of this writing can not locate Mr. Jefferson. I have filed court action on him, which is pending.
